Boxes
I'm sitting here, listening to a torrential downpour, surrounded by boxes. Boxes, boxes everywhere. To those who don't yet know, DJ and I bought our first home. Due to the insane Seattle prices it is actually a duplex, townhouse type thing. But we love it. If all continues to go smoothly we will get the keys on the 25th, and will be moving this time next week. It's a little sobering to make such a HUGE investment, a little scary, a little overwhelming, and a lot exciting. DJ has been extra nostalgic, I just want to get going, so does Amelia...

Happy birthday to you...
Happy birthday to you, your daddy acts like a monkey, sometimes your mommy does too...Today is Amelia's six month birthday, in commemoration we decided to sing her happy birthday and then give her solids for the first time. Does rice cereal even count as a solid? Well, I have to report, that she was most interested in the spoon. I seriously had to wrestle it out of her hands after each bite. At first she willingly opened her mouth to this foreign substance and gobbled it up, but after a few bites her curiosity was satisfied and she was done. I can't blame her, it didn't look all that appetizing to me either. A good first attempt. She also drank a little out of a sippy cup the other day, some even made it into her mouth AND down her throat. She cried when it was all gone. Happy birthday baby girl. She ended the day by staying up the longest she ever has, 5 1/2 hours, and she wasn't even cranky. She must have known it was her day, and wanted to savor every minute of it.

What do I see, sitting there...
Well, this week has been pretty much more of the same. With one exception. Amelia is learning how to sit up. We are all very excited for this because she really NEEDS to, if you know what I mean. She loves to be a part of what is going on. So much so that she can only sit for about 15-45 seconds before she tries to grab something or is trying to see something, and knocks herself over. It's a start. Here is a picture of it. As you can tell, she still freaks herself out a little.
