My friend had this on her blog and I thought it was hilareous, so I found it to put on mine. Hope you don't mind Lauren. Enjoy.

I'm leaving on a jet plane, don't know when I'll be back again...
Well, not really. But I wish I was. In fact, I would even be happy with the hotel around the corner. DJ suggested we all go on a vacation, but I think that would defeat the whole purpose. I would still be doing what I am doing now, just somewhere else. Kinda lame. To sum it up, I need a vacation...by myself.
As you can tell, I'm worn out. DJ is a tremendous help, but he doesn't get home until 7 and then when I do pass Amelia off, I somehow always get her back WAY to fast. Part of the problem is Amelia decided that since she was feeling better from last weekend, she would get an eye infection this weekend. Yes, I get to put eye drops in her eyes 3 times a day for 10 days. Now that is what I call fun. I love being SCREAMED at with a look of "why are you doing this to me?". Another part is for the first 4 months of her life she would take a bottle, so I could leave. But she has decided she doesn't want to anymore, so I can't. THAT is very hard to get used to. Another part of the problem is that I feel a little stuck. I would love to carry Amelia into stores and have even attempted it a few times. The results...HUGE spit up in the checkout line at a drugstore, on the floor, throw up 2 times in one trip at a fabric store (luckily I caught it). Get the picture, it's not pretty. The last part of the problem is that I am an admitted procrastinator, and that just isn't working out so well with a baby. I feel like I have a million things to do, and the time I get to do them (during naps), I really don't want to. The solution, I need a vacation. A couple of days to veg and sleep, then a couple to get things done.
PS-If I haven't given you a thank you card, or still have a dish of yours, sorry...I'm pathetic, you will get it. In the mean time enjoy this video of one of Amelia's favorite sounds.

Can babies blow out on purpose?
I swear they can, and Amelia is. She has blown out so many times over the past week, I have lost count. They aren't those wimpy ones either, you know the ones where you wonder if you should even bother to change their onesie. They are monster ones that soak through everything and somehow smear all the way over her belly button, out over her legs and clear up to the armpits! Like I said, I swear she is doing them on purpose. Very often she will be all smiles right after, a smile of satisfaction. Why would she do this you ask? Our guess, because she is a fish, she loves the bath. She sucks on the washcloth, trys to drink out of the cup, and splashes like crazy. So much so that even in the big tub, the floor and I can get soaked. She even enjoys admiring herself in the mirror when she gets out (she thinks she's pretty funny) and trying to eat her towel. I think, even at her tender age, she has learned that big blow out = bath time.

I love how babies look so clean and smell so good after baths.

Momma called the doctor and the doctor said...
Head on over to the emergency room at Children's hospital within an hour! Yes, it's true. To keep a potentially novel length blog post at bay, I will try to be brief. Last night Amelia threw up, tossed her cookies, etc. We didn't think much of it, she has thrown up on occasion. But did she stop after one time, oh no... she just kept going and going and going and I will spare you the gory details, but lets just say it was not pleasant. It was painful to watch. After careful deliberation, trying to decide if I was being a paranoid first time parent, I called the doctor. I admit I was expecting a "watch out for the signs of dehydration and she will be fine" but what did I get "uh, I'm going to call over to Children's hospital and you should bundle her up and head on over asap." WHAT!?! In a somewhat state of shock we packed up and headed to Seattle. She was examined about 4 times by 3 different people and they unanimously agreed that it was probably not an intestinal blockage. They sent us home shortly after, as you can imagine we were completely relieved. They couldn't identify the cause but gave us a whole list of things to watch out for. On the drive home, DJ's suit pants soaked with throw up, we marveled that we had made it through our first emergency room visit. No freaking out, no crying, we were quite calm, and so was Amelia. She even flashed them a few smiles to win everyone over. We returned home in the middle of the night, exhausted in every way. Luckily Amelia has been doing well ever since, the hardest part has been feeding her. Not because she doesn't want to eat, but because she wants to oh so very much. I'm only supposed to feed her for a couple of minutes every 10-20 minutes till it equals a regular feeding. Lets just say those are LONG minutes.
Now I bet you thought our ordeal was over, so did we. But to top it all off, Amelia decided to somehow cut her gum on a toy this evening. What a bloody and screaming show she put on. Luckily that is also fine. Boy, I think we all need a good nights sleep.

Roll over, roll over, so they all rolled over...
Luckily no one fell out! Today, according to the counter at the bottom of my blog, Amelia is 4 months 3 weeks and 6 days old. And today she mustered up all the strength and momentum she could, and rolled from her back to her tummy. I was so proud of her. She pumped her legs, swung them up to her face, fell over to the side, reached out and had success. She marveled at her accomplishment for about a minute and then realized what she had done, she had rolled on to her TUMMY. What a horrific realization, crying erupted. Now that she knows where rolling over gets her, I wonder if she will ever do it again.

Another milestone was on Sunday. Amelia was in her car seat after church and her cousin Abby(9) came over and started making faces and doing a cheer "You're awesome, you're terrific, you're AMELIA..." and she started laughing like crazy. Amelia that is. Now, she has giggled quite a bit, but this was a full out laugh for like 5 minutes straight. I wish I had a video camera. DJ and I just watched in amazement, apparently we are nothing compared to her cousin. She was so worn out after that she was asleep before we even got to the car.

Bit of this, bit of that
This last weekend we were able to go to DJ's family's cabin. We spent time with a bunch of his family, come to think of it, it was the youngest 4 siblings and their families. We ate, talked, the boys had quite an adventure to Crazy Eric's Burgers, and we watched an Ernest movie. I think his family kept Ernest in business, they love those stupid movies. There was also a huge lightning storm with torrential downpours. It was great.
In other news Amelia has officially learned how to reach out and grab well enough to start pulling on hair, faces, jewelry, clothes etc, etc. She can put a death grip on just about anything she wants to now. I was somewhat loathing this phase of her little life. I like my hair on my head, not in her hands. My shirt necklines not stretched out, my lips attached to my face and her fingers out of my nose, and I know that DJ agrees, he has gotten a few good yanks as well. She is also napping better now and is back to her happy self. YAY!
I will now show some pictures (you can click on them to make them bigger) of the July Challenge per DJ's request. The July Challenge, for those uninformed, consisted of not shaving for the whole month of July. They were allowed to shave parts (since not all can grow it fully and we didn't need them walking around with random long hairs on their cheeks) and even keep it trimmed if they wanted. But they had to have some facial hair. Then at the end of the month they all got together to shave them crazy and take pictures, some left that for another day or two as well. Who would be a part of this weird challenge you ask. None other than DJ's family. They had so much fun, they want to make it a yearly tradition.

Oh, and guess who can grow the least facial hair...you guessed it, it's DJ.
