Is my calendar correct? Yesterday was April 18 was it not? Then someone obviously did not get the memo that it is spring, and as such it should not be SNOWING, at least not where we live. If someone could kindly pass that on, it would be much appreciated. I like snow, we have a pretty good relationship. But snow is for winter, and occasionaly fall...not spring.
Also, if someone could please inform me how falling asleep sitting up is even possible. I put Amelia down last night and she never made a peep. About 2 hours later, when I was going to bed, I checked on her and had to keep myself from laughing out loud. She had fallen asleep sitting up, she was just folded in half. Now if she had been crying I could understand that a little better, she might not have known how to get back to laying down. But to do it silently? What was she just playing and a wave of sleepiness over took her and "konk". I just don't get it.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MISS AMELIA
Well I can't believe it, but our little girl is one year old. Wow. Time sure flies. We started our celebration on Sunday with a HUGE family party that was combined with her cousin Samantha's blessing and at her cousin's house (thanks Kirstin). Amelia reacted to the Happy Birthday song and presents in true Amelia fashion. She just stared and stared. The cake was also in true Amelia fashion, DJ tried giving her a bite and she gagged. She then stuck her fingers in the frosting, looked at her hand in surprise and decided she was done.
An all pink cake for our little girly girl.
Here's a video of the Happy Birthday song, DJ's family style. (notice my family not joining in, just smiling, and also her uncles term of enderment - Amalia)
Here is what she thought of the cake.
Here is her bounty.
On her actual birthday we had a nice quiet evening at home. We sang to her several times during the day, she thought it was pretty funny. She played with her new toys (thanks grandma). We tried the cake thing again. She still didn't eat it, and she wouldn't even touch it, until we gave her a spoon. Then she studied the cake, dipped her spoon in, and proceeded to push pieces of the cake off the table. When she had a good pile on the floor and her lap she was done. Oh our dainty little girl, who didn't want to get dirty. She then shared some ice cream with her dad. We rounded out the night by giving her a bath in her new ducky tub (thanks Marnie), which she LOVED!!! She usually likes the bath and splashes quite a bit, but it was nothing to the splashing she did in the ducky tub. WOW. Then it was time for bed.
Her second piece.
Sharing her ice cream with dad.
The beloved ducky tub bath.
I love you my little girlie!

Firsts
As we are quickly approaching Amelia's first birthday I thought it was fitting to share some resent firsts (in the past week or 2).
First #1- Amelia rolled over in her crib when I put her down for a nap, and was crawling (or her version of it, picture a baby seal) around playing.
First #2- I was trying to put Amelia down for a nap and she cried for a couple of minutes and then got quiet. I obviously thought she had fallen asleep so I went in and checked on her and what was she doing? STANDING in the crib. How in the world she did that from laying down was a complete mystery until 2 days later when I caught this...
First #3- I put Amelia down in her crib for a nap and came back to check on her and she was SITTING. How she got there from laying down also was a mystery until yesterday when she did a complete sit up from laying on her back.
First #4- Because of #1 she fell asleep on her tummy for the first time.
First #5- Conference weekend we were at DJ's parents house and Amelia found this rocking chair that she walked behind. It was her first solo steps holding on to somthing moving.
As you can see our little girl is a strong one, holy moly, you just try standing up that way. And I'm sure you can also tell that nap time is definitely becoming a bit of a struggle to say the least.
Since we are on the topic of firsts I thought I would also include a first for me. I made my first quilt. I have only sewn about 3 things in my life but decided (for some unknown reason) to make a quilt for my new niece Samantha. I picked out the fabric based on the colors of her room and voila. She arrived the day after I finished. I think she was waiting. DJ was a little miffed that I wasn't making Amelia my first quilt, I informed him that my first one was going to have mistakes in it, and I needed to give it away or I would have to look at them. It is far from perfect, but I think it turned out pretty cute.
And here is a self timer picture from DJ's birthday that actually looks decent. Maybe I should do them more often!

Ouch
Ouch #1: A couple of weeks ago DJ came home from getting dinner and says "Uh, I got in an accident in your car". Immediately I thought "Is it April fools already? No, dang it." I couldn't get upset, it wasn't totally his fault, but my car? He rarely drives my car without me. I am just glad that it was fairly minor, cosmetic damage and that Amelia wasn't in the car.
Ouch #2: So we finally took the car in to get fixed, and my dad graciously let me drive is Pathfinder. I was enjoying driving it until one evening when I went out shopping. I was running low on gas and decided to fill up before I hit the mall. Mistake! I realize that gas is expensive but I just watched the numbers $40...$50...$60...till it finally rested at $63.29. The gas light wasn't even on. Wow. My car is about $40, DJ's is $30. I felt so bad that I didn't buy anything, I should have filled up after!
