I was surfing the web wallowing in my sicky misery (what went around finally came around, or something like that) when I found this website for blankets. One of their baby blankets is called Amelia and this is the description they put with it. It seems to fit our little Amelia quite well...(just pretend the bottle part is nursing).
Story: Soft-spoken with an old soul. Little Amelia loves to observe others,
chill with her bottle and listen to soothing music. She also loves to be
held as much as she loves holding her blankie. She was born with style, you know, the Jackie O kind of style. Timeless.

Belated Tag
I was tagged twice a couple of weeks ago and I am finally getting to them, they were fairly similar so I combined them. Enjoy.
10 years ago: Same as Kirstin “I was 15, anxiously awaiting the blessed age of 16--complete with dating and driving!”
5 Things I did today:
1. Woke up a bazillion times with a sick baby
2. When she finally fell into a good sleep at 7:30 this morning…so did I, till 11:15.
3. Got accidentally hit on by my brother-in-law Sam (he thought I was DJ, don’t ask)
4. Burned the Lincoln book “Team of Rivals” onto my computer (the audio)
5. Watched Sister Beck’s CES fireside from last week
5 Things I need to do:
1. Try to not get the flu from Amelia
2. Start exercising again
3. In spite of #2 make some kind of chocolaty goodness
4. Write thank you cards
5. Get Amelia to start eating solid food better (she still can’t eat food she has to chew, she just gags and spits it up. Yuck.)

1. I worked at a flower shop making arrangements, that was fun and pretty.

1.Buy a pretty house (decorate it completely) that someone else will clean when I don‘t want to, with a pretty yard that someone else takes care of when I don’t want to.
2.Buy a vacation home on a tropical beach somewhere.
3.Travel and expand my other hobbies
4.Help other people get the things they need
5. Wipe my hands of worrying about money. Whew.
5 of my bad qualities or habits
1. I eat too many sweets
2. I can be overly critical of DJ sometimes
3. I procrastinate the inevitable hoping it will go away
4. I often leave the clean clothes in the dryer and we just pick out of it
5. I can get overly emotional and cranky when tired or hungry
5 Things people probably don't know about me
1. I was born in Saudi Arabia. No, my dad was not in the military and the reason I don’t look Arabic is because I am not.
2. I eat fast, a little too fast. I used to be on the slow side, my dad would tease me about being a bird because I just picked at my food. But after having a child I feel like I need to eat super fast or I will never get to finish.
3. In elementary school I used to fake sick to stay home all the time. I would go spit in the toilet (I'm guessing so I wouldn't be completely lying) and say I threw up. I did this so often that my teacher and I had to have a talk about "staying in school". Hello, my name is Angie and I was almost a 2nd grade drop out.
4. I have to pull my pajama pants up to my knees to sleep (like capri’s) and I usually stick my feet out from under the covers.
5. I’m not a very good speller, I can do alright when writing because I can see it, but never ask me to spell something from my head. It just would not be pretty. Spelling bees suck.

WOOHOO!
I finally fixed the problem and can post a video. Long story short, I had to get in the computer code. (Thank you, thank you, you may hold your applause.) Since that took so long, and it is now very late, all you get are two videos.
Warning: Although Amelia is generally very easygoing, she in NOT in these videos, what you are about to see may shock you.
Amelia finally crawling...well,kind of. We are just glad she is shifting gears and is in the forward direction, reverse has been quite frustrating. But alas, so can going forward...
Again, Amelia, but this time walking along her crib which unfortunately is now just the right height for chewing on. Don't mind my voice (do I really sound that annoying?) Apparently walking also has it's frustrations...
I wonder which one she will master first? The race is on.

It's raining, it's pouring...
...Amelia's not snoring, I kissed her head and put her to bed, but I don't think she'll make it till morning.
Things I have learned this week:
1. Little babies = little immune systems = a constant cycle of runny noses. Lets just say that Amelia thinks we are trying to suffocate her or something when we wipe her little nose. Also, sicky + new tooth = 1 hr+ of trying to get her down for a nap each time, good naps though.
2. How to make cinnamon rolls. Now I don't mean to toot my own horn (well, I guess I do) but I made cinnamon rolls from scratch, no really, I did. Yeast and all. What is a normal occurrence at other people's homes is amazing in mine. I can cook and bake fine but this is only the second time I have ever used yeast. (Gasp, I know, a little pathetic) but they were absolutely delicious if I do say so myself.
3. DJ didn't fall into the pits of despair when Mitt Romney dropped out, like I feared.
4. I can actually rock myself to sleep.
5. Amelia NEEDS to walk or crawl or something, now!!! For everyone's sake please! She seems to be skipping crawling (which I figured was going to happen) but I never realized that in doing so this would happen. What you ask? She has learned that she can stand up and walk while holding our hands, so she realizes she can get what she wants. What's the problem with that? The "our hands" part. She doesn't get that she can hold onto a whole host of things...just our hands. That means she is constantly reaching for us pulling herself up and lunging toward what she wants until we stand up and walk her there. Yes, with no way to get there herself (i.e., crawling) but with an awareness that she can get there herself (with our help) it has become quite frustrating time for us all, good thing she is so darn cute. Any suggestions are welcome.
6. I can teach the whole young women's without dying or being completely paralyzed by fear, it was only partial.
7. That I miss my little baby girl. Today we were sitting on the couch and she was cuddled in my arms leaning her head on my shoulder playing with a toy and I realized that she is growing up so fast, before I know it those little cuddle times will be gone. I guess this is why we have more kids. But I am definitely not ready for that yet...I just want my baby back for a little while.
And so we are not picture free, here is a picture of a silly Amelia face...

Catch up
Ok, so I know that I have been kind of a slacker lately when it comes to blogging. I always think of funny or interesting things during the day but by the time I get a chance to get on the computer, it is WAY too late and I am WAY too tired and it gets saved for another day. But it seems some of my memories don't make it through the night. So I'm sucking it up at the moment.
I'll start the recap with an update on Amelia.
1. Her hair is finally getting long enough (in some places) to get that fresh out of bed tousled look.
2. She will play on her tummy for about 15 minutes. For those who don't know/remember, since birth she has detested her tummy time, lasting mere seconds without tears.
3. Because of #2 she is finally starting to try to scoot around. Very unsuccessfully at the moment. She gets so frustrated, I feel bad. She will wiggle and wiggle and then she will finally ball up her fists, get all stiff, turn bright red, hold her breath, then scream. Although, she did go backwards a couple of times, that really ticked her off too.
3. Unfortunatly I have to report that although the sleeping through the night thing occured again, it didn't stay. Sigh. I'm open to any input all you veteran mommies out there.
As for me, I have been having fun with my new sewing machine from Christmas. I made these little slipper/shoes for Amelia. She can't fit in any other shoes because her feet are so plump. So I found a great tutorial and altered it for her specific "issue" and voila. I love the satisfatiction of making something.
And on to DJ, he is otherwise consumed by this election. All you need to know is Romney better win, or I don't know what he will do with himself.
On a more personal note, I would like to thank everyone for their wonderful comments about our beloved prophet. Your words have touched me deeply, you expressed thoughts in a way I don't think I could. We will miss him dearly, but I'm sure he is clicking his heels rid of his tired body and overjoyed seeing his beloved wife, family and other amazing men.
